Sunset Coast Capital · Government contract buyouts

Independent Sponsor

Sunset Coast acquires founder-held government contracting businesses as an independent sponsor: capital arranged for each deal, a team that knows the contract base, and no fund clock forcing an exit.

The Practice

We buy government contracting companies, one at a time.

Government contracting is the one market where the buyer's identity changes what the company is worth. Set-asides, recertification, facility clearances, and contract novation all turn on who owns the business after close. We buy companies whose work the mission depends on, structure each deal so the contract base survives the change of ownership, and keep the people and the name that earned it.

Sunset Coast Capital is the investment arm of Sunset Coast Partners. Sunset Coast Partners, LLC does not provide legal, tax, or investment advice. Nothing on this site is an offer to sell, or a solicitation of an offer to buy, any security.

What We Do

01

Control buyouts

Government contracting companies with $2–20M in revenue whose owners want a successor, not a stripping-out.

02

Capital arranged deal by deal

Equity and debt raised for the specific company, sized to that company. No blind pool, and no deployment deadline pushing us into the wrong deal.

03

Government market fluency

Set-asides, recertification, facility clearances, and contract novation handled by people who have lived them.

04

Long holds

No forced exit clock. We run what we buy with discipline and build companies meant to outlast any fund cycle.

Who We Serve

Owners seeking succession

Founders who care what happens to the company, the contracts, and the people after the wire clears.

Operators and leaders

Executives who want to run and grow a mission-critical business with aligned capital behind them.

How It Begins

01

A straight conversation

What you want, what the business is, and whether we are the right owner for it. Honest answers early.

02

A clear proposal

Valuation, structure, and transition spelled out in plain language, with no retrading.

03

A respectful transition

Your people, your customers, and your name handled the way you would handle them.

Independent Sponsor · questions

Straight answers.

What does Sunset Coast Capital acquire?
Sunset Coast Capital is the investment arm of Sunset Coast Partners. It acquires government contracting businesses with $2M-$20M in revenue in defense, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and enterprise software, from founders who want a successor rather than a stripping-out.
What is an independent sponsor?
A buyer that arranges capital for one specific acquisition instead of raising a fund first. Sunset Coast Capital operates as an independent sponsor: one company at a time, with equity and debt raised for that transaction and no fund clock forcing an exit.
Why does the buyer matter so much in government contracting?
Size and status are recertified after a change of ownership, and since January 17, 2026 a disqualifying recertification ends eligibility for future set-aside orders and options under multiple-award contracts. A buyer that stays small by SBA standards after close can keep revenue a large buyer would have to price as gone.
What happens to my employees and my company's name?
They stay. Past performance, CAGE codes, and customer trust are attached to the name and the people. We buy companies because of them, and continuity is the plan rather than the exception.
How does a conversation with Sunset Coast Capital begin?
A confidential call, then an NDA before any financial statement changes hands, then a clear read on value and a written proposal if there is a fit. No broad shopping of the company and no pressure.
